Eden Says: Remarkable

I am so amazed by this girl. She is such a remarkable little spirit and person. She is constantly saying things that seem beyond her 4 1/2  years. Here are some examples from today:

During the Sacrament at church I said, "listen to this next prayer. In it we make a promise. I want you to listen really well and tell me what you think it is." After the prayer on the water she climbed on my lap and said, "actually there are two promises. We promise to remember His blood and we promise to always remember Him."

Tonight we read the story of "You Are Special" about the wemmicks and Eli, their maker. This isn't a book we've read often and it probably has been over a year since we read it. After I got done reading I asked her what she thought and if Eli reminded her of anyone. "Yes, he is like Heavenly Father and the wemmicks are like us." She had totally understood the allegory.

For some reason she has recently been fascinated with writing on things that are NOT paper. It seems strange to me that we've never had a problem with this before and now all of a sudden I'm finding pencil scribbles on the bannister and on outlet covers and plastic cups. The punishment  has been that she has to clean these things but Magic Eraser has made that all too easy. Finally I told her that if I find writing on something that is not paper she will have to go a whole week without doing crafts! (oh, the injustice!). So today she says to me out of the blue, "you know, I wrote on that cup a long time ago, like, I was probably 4 and a quarter." (yup, 4 and a 1/4 is a long time ago from 4 and a 1/2 and how does she even know what a quarter is????)

Lizzie got into mischief out of the blue with scissors. She has been using them successfully for a full two and a half years before she suddenly started cutting clothes or her hair. The phase probably would have lasted even longer, but she was actually really sad that we couldn't get all of her hair into a single ponytail anymore. It definitely caught me off guard. Good luck!
